But I'm not sure anymore that I want to be in IT. The job would be as a data center hardware tech. Pay would suck and the shifts would be evenings. I'm really leaning towards the car dealership (surprisingly).

IT can pay well when its engineering and not just general "IT." I used to rake in the OT working a 9-5 and then nights supporting things in an IT shop. the 11pm shift was awesome since I was the only one in the data center. That being said I agree a little with mr_gofast, you could always do both for a little while and see which you like better.

I have a wife and like sleep. So that's out lol. And this is a with a big company in their data center. So not really the super flexible IT hours traditionally given.
